1985년 3월 7일 USA For Africa의 “We Are The World”가 발매되었다. Michael Jackson과 Lionel Richie가 쓰고 Quincy Jones와 Michael Omartian이 프로듀스한 이 곡은 아프리카의 기근 해결에 도움을 주고자 만든 곡으로 같은 취지로 발표된 Band Aid의 “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”에 대한 미국의 대응이었다. 이 곡을 만들자는 아이디어는 당초 Harry Belafonte와 자금조달책인 Ken Kragen의 생각이었다. 이
